RENO – At about 11 a.m. Monday, the Nevada Highway Patrol was notified of a commercial motor vehicle accident on State Route 431, also known as Mt. Rose Highway. The accident happened west of the Tannenbaum Event Center, formerly called the Christmas Tree Restaurant.

The driver, Russell Stokes, was cited for speed too fast for conditions.

At 12:50 p.m., the roadway was completely closed to traffic while work began to remove the vehicle.  Because of the location of the accident and a mechanical problem with one of the tow trucks, the cleanup process took longer than expected.  At 5:15 p.m., one lane of traffic was opened.  At 7:28 p.m., the accident scene was completely cleared, allowing for the normal flow of traffic.
