After a fire swept along Ridgecrest Drive Monday, six families were left without homes. Four are currently being housed, fed and clothed by the American Red Cross, said Michael Hurick, emergency services director for the northern Nevada chapter of the American Red Cross. One family is staying with relatives and the sixth family has not contacted the Red Cross.

The Red Cross is only accepting monetary donations for the families.

Those who are interested can donate through the Web site at www.nevada.redcross.org , call 856-1000 or deliver donations to the Red Cross offices at 1190 Corporate Blvd.

Reno, NV 89502.

The Red Cross is not accepting clothes or items. Rather, they are giving the families Visa gift cards, funded by donations, to purchase necessary items.
