The Duncan family, owners and operators of Kiley Ranch and Wolf Run Golf Club in Reno, will give smaller charitable concerns such as youth sports organizations or community service groups another way of generating funds when many other sources of donations have slowed in a weak economy.
The Links at Kiley Ranch is a nine-hole, executive course in Sparks that caters to golfers of all ages and skill levels. Co-designed by Patty Sheehan, LPGA Hall of Famer and former Nevada and Wooster High player, Kiley Ranch has hosted many successful fundraising events for organizations in Reno and Sparks. From April through October, the Duncan family will set aside one weekday afternoon each month for an event with 30 to 72 players. Kiley Ranch staff will help with event planning, but in essence
“It’s a great place to host a family-friendly tournament, which makes it a natural fit for youth-oriented organizations. The course is playable for everyone and the shorter tournament time at an executive course on a weekday afternoon is a fun and sensible way to help local organizations raise their profile in the community and to generate financial resources,” said T.J. Duncan, a longtime northern Nevada resident and former player for the Nevada Wolf Pack’s golf team.
Duncan added that Kiley Ranch staff will help provide food and drinks if needed during or after a tournament for very reasonable fees. Events may be scheduled Monday through Thursday with an afternoon start time. Interested organizations may apply for a tournament date by writing a brief explanation as to why the group should be selected. Requests can be faxed to 851-4403 or sent by e-mail to TJ@wolfrungolfclub.com. Requests will only be accepted from groups with documented 501(c)(3) non-profit status.
