On display will be a wide variety of arts and crafts including photography, watercolor, oil paintings, ceramics, jewelry, woodwork and much more. Among this year’s featured artists is ceramic artist John Manley of Washoe Valley, who has been creating vessels for 16 years. Manley attended Sierra Nevada College where he perfected his craft. The innovative and creative artist will showcase his unique ceramic vessels, including art pots, porcelain and stoneware, up to 4-feet tall, at this year’s show.
Award-winning jeweler Meg Black-Smith of Nevada City has been making jewelry for more than 20 years and brings quality, professionalism and top-notch artwork to this year’s show. Black-Smith uses karat gold and sterling silver to create her Victorian-style pieces. Using precious metals and striking gemstones, she solders and casts the swirls of silver and gold into rings, bracelets, earrings, pendants and more.
Diana Ahrens of Reno creates custom mixed-media pieces for homes and businesses. She works in mosaic-type mixed media to design wall art of all sizes. Her process involves using a very light wood composite and acrylics in complimentary colors for her signature backgrounds. To finish the work, she uses special cuts of stained glass that are applied over the painting to accent and highlight the underlying work. Her pieces include designs of wine bottles, martini glasses and florals.
Additional artists participating in The Summit Art Festival include photographer Garry Moore; Silvio Silvestri with his plein air paintings featuring portraits, florals, figures and landscapes of the Lake Tahoe area; and handspun rugs and tapestries by Judith and Lawrence Romiti.
