RENO — Celebrate the changing of the seasons with a relaxing and reflective walk through Washoe County’s Labyrinth Garden when the county’s Department of Regional Parks and Open Space hosts a Fall Equinox Walk in the Wilbur D. May Arboretum at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Rancho San Rafael Botanical Society volunteer Susan Stewart leads the walk and explains the history and healing qualities of these ancient gardens.

Rancho San Rafael Regional Park is located at 1595 N. Sierra St. Admission is free.

“Labyrinths have been used for centuries as tools for healing, meditation and bringing peace into people’s lives,” arboretum horticulturist Bill Carlos said. “These patterned circuits offer a place for people of all faiths and beliefs to walk, think or simply reflect, helping themselves and their families heal on a personal as well as community level.”

The Labyrinth Garden at the May Arboretum and Botanical Garden is dedicated to victims of violent crime in our community and their loved ones. The garden project was initiated by the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office, Nevada Attorney General’s Office and Victims in Crisis, Turmoil or Recovery (VICTORY).
