Volunteers needed for Growing Green Day

RENO — Help care for the environment and one of Washoe County’s most popular public gardens by joining other community volunteers for Growing Green Day, Oct. 17 at the Wilbur D. May Arboretum in Rancho San Rafael Regional Park.

The day offers garden activities for all ages, including garden workshops, spring bulb and tree plantings and a garden clean-up. All leaves and plant debris will be recycled through Rail City and Cast-A-Way recycling programs.

Registration and coffee are at 9 a.m. Workshops begin at 10 a.m., bulb and tree planting start at 10:30 a.m. and the clean-up is from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A lunch break for volunteers is at 12 p.m.

Volunteers are asked to bring gloves, leaf rakes, shovels, hand pruners and trowels.
