RENO — At the request of Storey County Emergency Management, the northern Nevada chapter of the American Red Cross responded Tuesday to a residential fire in Lockwood.

A Red Cross disaster volunteer assessed the situation and provided assistance to the three residents who were displaced. Temporary lodging in a motel, as well as a debit card to purchase food, clothing and other necessities was provided to assist them in the recovery process.

Red Cross caseworkers will follow up with the affected individuals to ensure their immediate needs are met and to refer them to other partner organizations that can help them with their recovery efforts.

Since July 1, the northern Nevada chapter of the American Red Cross has responded to 32 incidents and provided assistance to 141 individuals.

To support the efforts of the Red Cross, financial contributions can be made online at www.nevada. redcross.org, by calling 856-1000 or by mailing a check to 1190 Corporate Blvd., Reno, NV 89502.
