RENO — The Grand Sierra Resort and Casino (GSR) will host the Longest Drive for Charity competition at 4 p.m. on July 14 as part of the 12th annual Reno-Tahoe Open, an official PGA Tour event, held July 12 through 18 at Montreux Golf and Country Club.

For $500, Reno businesses will get the opportunity to participate and be paired with a PGA Tour golf professional and hit golf balls from atop the 27-story Grand Sierra Resort. Golfers will aim for the Sierra Bay Golf aquatic driving range in front of GSR. The laketop range is specially marked upon islands of green to indicate yardage. The business and professional pair to hit the longest drive will win a trip for two to Napa Valley wine country.

Participating PGA Tour golf professionals include Chris Dimarco and Robert Garrigus, among others.

Individuals may also participate in the Longest Drive for Charity for $50. The winner will receive a one night’s stay in The Summit, GSR’s high-end luxury hotel suite, dinner for two at Charlie Palmer’s Steak House at the GSR and two VIP pavilion passes to the Reno-Tahoe Open.

All proceeds will benefit the Autism Coalition of Nevada.
