Update on Reno kidnap, sexual assault case

RENO — Investigation into a pair of alleged sexual assaults from Saturday has led to identification of a possible third victim. In the case, Reno police arrested Lamont Howard, 36, of Reno, for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman and kidnapping and attempting to assault a second woman a few hours later in the area of Virginia Lake.

This possible third victim and two other witnesses are currently being interviewed by Reno police detectives. Authorities also are looking for occupants and potential witnesses in a red vehicle who were following Howard’s vehicle on Holcolmb Avenue on Saturday when one of the potential victims jumped from his vehicle to escape.

Police are asking for help from anyone who has information or may have witnessed one of the crimes, which occurred between 8 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the area of South Virginia Street and Holcomb Avenue from Liberty Street to the Virginia Lake area. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Reno police at 785-8605 or remain anonymous by calling Secret Witness at 322-4900.
